Useful Organisations for Parents
The Sheffield Autistic Society is a local charity for people with autism (including Asperger syndrome) and their families. They provide support and information, and they campaign for a better world for Sheffield people – children, young persons and adults – with autism and Asperger syndrome.
An independent group of parents and carers of children and young people (0-25) with disabilities and special educational needs. Their main aim is to ensure the needs of children are met. They bring together parent carers from across Sheffield to provide mutual support, exchange information, and influence policy and practice. They have over 1,700 members.
Within Reach is an independent, registered charity, run by a volunteer management committee of seven. Their Management Committee includes people with experience of and commitment to opportunities for disabled people. Together with their key partners, they aim to increase sustained opportunities for disabled people who wish to take part in sport and physical activity, create a seamless pathway from grassroots participation through to elite level competition, and develop a sustainable workforce for disability sport.
We are an umbrella body for the disabled children’s sector. We operate a number of different networks, programmes and special interest groups that focus on specific aspects of the SEND sector. Each network provides dedicated support and expert advice through a combination of training, resource development and dissemination of best practice.safe.
