Dear students, parents and carers,

We are delighted that you have chosen Seven Hills to be the next stage in your child’s educational journey. We value our family partnerships highly, and our team are looking forward to working with you over the coming months and years.

We plan our transition package carefully and as part of this we will also be liaising closely with your child’s primary school. Seven Hills staff will visit your child in their primary school setting so that we can see what works well for them and how we can support them to make a successful transition to Seven Hills. In addition, there will be a series of transition events during the summer term aimed at ensuring you and your child get to know us and feel reassured about the changes ahead ready for their move to Seven Hills in September

This transition process involves at least four visits to our school site, with the opportunity to meet the staff and students your child will be with in September. During these visits, there will be an opportunity to find out about transport, school uniform, medical needs, social and learning needs, and the shape of the Seven Hills school day.

We recognise that this can be an anxious time for families and that some young people need more transition opportunities than others. If you feel that your child would benefit from additional visits to Seven Hills, please contact Melanie Turner (Assistant Head Teacher) to discuss.

You may also find the following resources on this website helpful as your child begins their transition to Seven Hills:

  •  A video showing a day in the life of pupils at Seven Hills
  •  A virtual tour of the school slideshow
  •  A social story slideshow about moving to our school

Families will receive an admissions pack including a ‘My New School’ booklet of photographs for your child, together with some forms for you to complete. If you need any assistance, you can bring these along to your first transition visit.

A member of our team will also telephone you to talk about the transition process and answer any questions you may have.

We want to encourage you to keep in touch with us by phone or email in the meantime. Please email or phone with any questions or concerns you may have and we will get straight back to you.

We look forward to meeting you all soon.
