Procedure for School Closure

Occassionaly, due to adverse weather or other extradinary circumstances, we have no option other than to close the school in the intrest of safety of students and staff.  We realise this puts additional pressure on families and will only do this where absolutley necessary.  If we need to close the school for any reason we will try to inform families at the earliest opportunity.  However, it it not always possible to give advance notice and decisions about closure sometimes need to be made with little warning.  The procedure for school closure is as follows:

  • The Headteachers will make a decision to close the school at the earliest opportunity and communicate this to SEND transport, staff and families.
  • Parents/carers will receive a text message via Parentmail (it is therefore essential we have your up to date contact details).
  • Information about the closure will be posted on the school website as soon as possible and families are recommended to check this throughout the day for updates.
  • The Local Authority will be updated  and updates will appear on www.sheffield.gov.uk/schoolclosures
  • Please be aware that if you ring school there may not be any one available to take your call.
  • Should the closure continue into a second day, parents and staff will receive another text message about this.  If you do not receive a message , you can assume the school will be open as usual the following day.
